The Journey

I created this portfolio website to reveal dimensions of myself that résumés and applications simply cannot capture. By hand-crafting it rather than using templates or platforms like Wix or WordPress, I maintained complete creative freedom. This digital canvas represents not just my work, but my personality and aspirations—a living artifact designed to evolve alongside my professional journey.

Planning Phase

My research revealed a curious gap: while software engineers had mastered the art of personal websites, finance professionals largely relied on mucj simpler designs. This observation shaped my vision to create something distinctively mine—minimalist and refined, yet warm and approachable. I focused on thoughtful typography, subtle animations, and a carefully curated color palette to achieve this balance between professionalism and personality.

Development Process

I built the site using HTML, CSS with Tailwind, and JavaScript. Having created a personal website before, this iteration benefited from both my improved technical skills and Tailwind's utility-first approach. This framework proved invaluable for rapid prototyping and maintaining consistency across pages, allowing me to create a responsive design that functions seamlessly across all devices.

The subtle fade-in animations triggered by scrolling were a particular challenge worth solving. These elements create a sense of discovery, revealing content as visitors explore—much like how I hope people discover different facets of my professional identity over time.

Learning Outcomes

This project sharpened not just my technical abilities in HTML semantics and JavaScript, but also my understanding of effective visual communication. The process of creating this site forced me to articulate my professional narrative with clarity—defining who I am, what I value, and where I'm headed. Through iterative testing with peers, I discovered that good design emerges from listening as much as creating, a principle I'll carry into my finance career.

Conclusion

Building this portfolio was an exercise in self-reflection and technical craftsmanship. It embodies my approach to finance: methodical, thoughtful, and purpose-driven. Just as this website serves as a platform for connection, I aim to use finance as a vehicle for positive impact—whether through environmental sustainability, arts funding, or financial literacy education. This isn't merely a portfolio; it's a promise of the professional I'm becoming.
